Just a comments about the rats – they have a similar digestive system to ours so yes, they do expel gas from their system. I doubt baking soda or coke would work to kill them – maybe give them a bit of a tummy ache but that’s about it! 🙂 Cheers!

I use it for burns, too.
As soon as possible place baking soda on the burn area, lay a paper towel over the baking soda pour white vinegar over the paper towel. It will boil & fizz up. It’s draws the burning pain out. I used this on my son when he was around 5 yrs old. Then go to the hospital or Dr. Do not use on sever burns where the flesh is gone real bad. My sons burn didn’t get real bad & the Dr said what I did helped. It will keep from blistering up really bad.

I love this site and have thoroughly enjoyed reading the posts. I have recently lost both of my parents and some of the stories and tips and tricks, especially the baking soda, uses and cures, reminded me so much of the things I remember growing up. My Mom used baking soda for so many things around the house, they lived to be 94 and 95 yrs of age. Baking soda was a staple in our home. Thank you so much for allowing me to reminisce and gain knowledge all at the same time.

Baking soda works great to heal diaper rash. Pour a generous amount, maybe 1/3 of box, in the bath water. I guess it neutralizes the acid in the diaper area but it will definitely make a major difference. I used it on my daughter and now my granddaughter.

Another use, put about 1/2 teaspoon in a cup of warm water for sinus rinse instead of those tiny packets you get from the pharmacy. It works just as well.

No, but I heard it works. They say Rats can not expel gas and this causes them to explode inside and kills them? I have never tried it but maybe you could and report back if you are successful or not. I also hear you could leave Coca Cola out for them? 🙂

Rats are a big Problem,Don’t like poison, Found a recipe to kill rats Equal parts Baking Soda,Sugar and Flour… Has any one tried this?

I was surprised when I learned that baking soda comes in a cleaning grade also. Wow! When I was reading the How To’s , to make detergent etc, is when I saw the ingredient of cleaning grade baking soda.

Also, I learned several uses from your blog here about it. I brush my teeth at least 2 x week with small amt of toothpaste, baking soda and white vinegar. My teeth have really brightened and whitened.

And cheap! that’s one of the greatest facts about it.
When I make peanut brittle, the baking soda is the key ingredient.

I use baking soda to get rid of heartburn, take a teaspoon with a glass of water and wait about 2 or 3 minutes for a large belch. You can literally feel the heat come out of your mouth!!!

I have added baking soda to shampoo to help with dandruff and find it works quite well.
