For the sugar and dish soap one could I boil or burn the sugar would that be more effective and add a piece of fruit???

The large ants sound like the may be carpenter ants and if so, they can be pretty destructive if not taken care of.

Hello Mikki, Diatomatious Earth in the food grade is considered safe by many people. It is just important not to inhale the dust as with many products. This is why many don’t use it with their chickens. There are many who do and swear by it and those who don’t because they feel it caused respratory problems. One of those items that the final say will never be had. Thank you for your comment on our Fly Bait Recipe.

It has many uses such as ridding animals of parasites, keeping spiders away, but can also be taken internallu to help with digestion. It is natural and safe to use around childten and pets.

I have tried the following link to build a trap for mosquitoes outside on the patio, but instead adding the bait for flies and using only half the recipe. I works great attracting the flies and trapping them as well.

Hint: The recipe for mosquito bait didn’t work well attracting mosquitoes but it did attract and trap lots of cockroaches and other insect types.
