Hi Marilyn, You can check out our Chicken Coops on the Blog and you do not need a rooster unless you plan to hatch your own chickens. Most of the coops are designed for 4 chickens of more.

I’m looking for a reasonably priced coop to start my project. I want to buy three laying hens and don’t think I need a rooster. Don’t know what I’m talking about here at all.
Thanks

Hi Courtney, This looks like a plan in the works. I would be surprised if your neighbors have an misgivings. Most people like the complainer, when that aggressive, their reputation goes before them and folk already know them by that! I am glad you have found a source of relief.

The neighbors wrote a letter full of falsehoods, two entire pages of ranting, and sent it to every neighbor on our street. 🙁 The police have been contacted regarding our rights. a no contact order will be put in place. The police department said the neighbor has visited & been told to deal with it, we are perfectly in our rights to have the roosters. Once we have sent the no contact order, I will send hand written apologies for their behavior to all if our neighbors, encouraging them to stop over and have a friendly discussion if they have any concerns about my children out pets.

I have a neighbor with 4 DUI’s who rides her horse naked in the neighborhood, her husband is an enabler … so neighbors are just ‘sad’

My first thought is to drop by my local police department and make them aware of the situation. Sounds like she could be a problem. I am sure the law enforcement could give you the correct avenue to pursue if any at all. Sorry for the screaming lady! 🙂

My new flick of chicks turned out to include 2 roosters. These young men have just started to crow in the morning and I think it is a beautiful sound that makes my mornings in the country all the more bright. Over the past few weeks I have returned home to hear screaming from an adjoining property. The neighbor spends much of her time home and apparently hates the rooster song. I have two young children and they are concerned as well. The neighbor screams Shut up, shut up, shut up. You better shut that bird up! Kill the rooster. She is obscene and never once had she stopped over to voice a concern in a civil manner; however, she sent her poor husband over the other day. I really am concerned about her mental health and the possibility that she could trespasstrespass & harm the animals when I am away at work during the day. Thoughts? Not sure what to do. Her husband was perfectly civil but, she is obscene and verbally abusive. The husband seemed shocked when I told him if her behavior while he is at work. Funny thing is… his daily trip to work on a motorcycle wakes me up at 4:30 AM and I don’t complain. Any advice for a peaceful wanna be farmer?

Hi Jillian, Reminding them that your vote counts like everyone else might get their attention. Gather every signature on a petition you can get and take it to them explaining these folk are all voters. 🙂
