My husband and I actually have 6 Swedish Flower Hens, Have both crested and un-crested. They are absolutely Gorgeous

I’ve grew up on a farm taking care of chickens ,cows,pigs,horses ,dogs and cats.Also a pair of mules.I loved life on the farm as I got older I married and went into public work and got away from my farm roots until recently.I’ve begun plans for a chicken coop with roost and laying beds,and I am really interested in these swedish flower hens.I am restrained financially ,so this is a one step at a time deal.But i would be interested in how much the hens and roosters and eggs sell for and how hard it would be for me to find someone close to woodland, alabama where I live,to see and purchase themI’m 56 years old and I need to get back to some of my roots Thank you.

Thanks for that interesting article on SFHs! A nice bit of history on some really sweet chickens. As you know I have 3 from JFA. Helga and Britta are mature hens now and Gustav is the king of the flock, or so he thinks. The girls look quite different, Britta has a full crest and Helga is beautifully speckled. Gustav is a very handsome guy. They are curious as you said and friendly to people. Britta is a bit nervous, I think because the crest affects her field of vision and things often take her by surprise! Helga lays a lovely, smooth light beige egg, like you described but no eggs from Britta at this (time that I can find). They all are thriving, Bro, and we think they’re quite special.

I was fortunate to find some of these locally and have 3 hens and a roo. Can’t wait till they start laying. Mine are from the Greenfire line.
