Hi Linda, If you want me to add your photo’s to the Blog Page just send the pictures to backroadsliving@gmail.com telling me about them and I will format them for the page and add them so others can see the great work you all have done to preserve them. Or, if you have a story you would like to submit about how you all restored them and lived in them that would be wonderful also. Of course we would give you credit for your story and pictures. What ever you prefer is fine with us. We just love stories from our readers.

~Blessings~

The broken down log cabin reminds me of my youth. My family here in Montana just finished refurbishing a homestead log cabin that my grandfather, from Norway built when he immigrated to America and settled in Montana. We also have a cabin right down the road from the cabin that we refurbished, and it looks almost identical to the cabin you posted, only our cabin is still in good shape. In fact, my husband and I lived in the little cabin when we first were married in 1964. There is still no electricity at our cabins, and we have a creek that flows right in front of both cabins, and that is where we get our water. We plan to celebrate our 50th wedding Anniversary Feb. 15, 2014 at our cabins. If I knew how to post a picture on this site, I would send a picture of our cabins. I hope they restore this broken down cabin you posted. Sincerely, Linda Braley

Hi David, Thank you for sharing that comment. I am afraid the old days are gone. Clean water and fresh food is just a bout a thing of the past. I was raised poor and we raised our own hogs, chickens, etc. Hunted and fished and enjoyed all the outdoor activities. When I saw this cabin it just brought back a lot of memories.

Hi Kathy, Thank you for your comment. It would do us well to go back to a time where God was not a stranger in our homes.

Hi Marian, Thank you for your comment. I agree, more time spent with God and less on technology by our youth and parents would serve our Country well.

Hi Sonya, We so appreciate your comment. I am glad for the technology of today I just wish parents could limit the amount of time they allow their children to spend with it. It seems that games, computers and phones are raising this generation and they are not getting the personal touches that come with the family eating around the kitchen table, the family vacationing together without all the phones, etc. Time spent together is never wasted. I just wish parents could see this more.

Hi Michael, I agree that we need to go back to some of the older ways. It just seems to me the children of today and the last 20 years or so have been raised by video games and tv. Instead of being brought up by parents who taught discipline and morals they have been taught the morals of ally cats and have no or very little discipline. Very little respect for God, Country or even parents. Parents returning to raise their children would help a lot.

Thank you for the comment.

People who spent each day getting ready for the next one, each season preparing for the next. A time when life had much purpose, and depended on the goodness of others and the unity of family. A place where God was no stranger.

Where is the love today……most people are too confused to even know the difference between want n love. Its a world of greed, power n possesions and everyones too busy running the rat race!
Where are the families??? How many broken homes, unwanted children, orphans, poor people……the list goes on! Exploited! Saturated! Diminishing! Thats our world today!
Most will not agree but the answer is just a little time for God!

The Native Americans didn’t over work the land, pollute the rivers and streams. They didn’t over kill for food nor did they waste any part of the animal.
We have raised some of our children so they don’t how to work, they can’t count unless they have a calculator, they can’t go outside and play because its boring,
some are rude, ill mannered, they see no beauty around them, they destroy others property and think its funny. They have no respect for people and our country. Some do not believe in God, who gave us everything, We could have learned a lot about how to survive, raise our children, not destroy the earth from the Native Americans. Instead we destroy them also.

They were located in different parts of Georgia for many years, & then some began to make the move west. I , as you, look at these & wish the walls could talk; that I could hear the laughter, the worries, the cry of the newborn babies, the many prayers being said. They built most of these homes themselves, raised big families there, & lived off the land.
I agree with Michael. The things of today do take so much time away from our families & our prayer life, but at the same time, this technology keeps me in touch, with those many family members that are scattered coast to coast, & has allowed me to “meet” so many people, I am in contact with on a regular basis. These people I may never meet, but we share ideas & memories from the past & present, & I consider them my friends. Thank-you for including me in this journey, & being my friend.

I think these trappings are the work of the devil. We need to go back before the start of the 60’s that’s not possible so maybe the next best step would be to unplug from the technology. But then I wouldn’t be able to read articles like this so it’s the proverbial catch 22.
