They follow the wing tip around. Females, only the outside of the wing tips line up. Only on the hens do the feathers overlap at the base. They are on two levels all the way around the wing, alternating higher and lower as you look at it. If they line up, like little soldiers in a row, then they are roosters.

You can also check the vent hole. If it’s a hen the vent hole will have 2 holes and the rooster will only have one. Courtesy of Yahoo.com search”.
