My Mama handed down a wonderful Apple Dumpling recipe to us! It is very similar to this one except she peeled and cored the apples…..wrapping eac Apple in the biscuit dough (she used the cheap store bought of Grand biscuits) then she would use a large can of fruit cocktail…..in a saucepan add a cup of sugar…. Bring to a boil…pour over your pan of apples….Bake as your recipe says……another option….but delicious!

In reply to Charlie. I;ve been looking for a recipe to use in place of canned biscuits because I don't think regular homemade biscuits would work for some of the recipes I want to use them for. Same goes for canned crescent rolls. Anyone know if there is one?

I really like your site, One thing I don’t understand though. Some of your recipes call for canned biscuits somehow that just doesn’t seem to align with down home cookin.

Can you tell me the weight of a stick of butter please, I’m guessing the biscuits are pieces of pastry? I love reading your recipes, will be trying brown sugar and garlic chicken soon. (From the UK)
