A Country with a lost identity
John 16, 33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Jesus had just finished telling the disciples that he was going back to the father! It had left them saddened and perplexed. This whole chapter needs to be read to fully appreciate the last verse here.
Sometimes I get so discouraged when I see all the turmoil around us in this country. I feel like our country has moved farther and farther away from the teachings of the bible. Our leaders no longer seek the council of Godly men but rather the paid council of foreign countries and special interest groups.
We have become a country that has allowed prayer to be taken away from our children in the school systems, the 10 commandments to be removed from public places because they may offend someone. We have become a Country with a Lost Identity.
Public prayer is becoming a thing of the past as it may offend people! Our National Anthem is sang in whatever manner the singer chooses. Our people and leaders have lost their respect of God and country! We have become a Country with a Lost Identity.
We went to church last night with my nephew and the pastor preached a sermon on Lost Identity. Boy, did it ever hit home with me..God must have told him I was on my way! You see I had lost my identity over the last few years and needed this more than anyone there!
We have an identity crisis in our country! We have forgotten who were are and where we come from! This great country was founded by men who respected and understood the principles of the bible. The fear and respect has faded away! We have become a Country with a Lost Identity.
The great thing about this is that we are assured that no matter what happens we are in God’s care. The pastor reminded us that leaders and dignitaries are where they are because God has allowed them to be there. God has a purpose. If we remember who we are and the message we have been given it will all work out fine for us! We are God’s children! Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world!
Our country is bringing all these problems and shameful events on itself because, “We” have become a Country with a Lost Identity.
I used the word “We”, you see, you and I are this country!
This is my assurance and I hope that if it isn’t your that you will find it soon.
Our message is that Jesus came to seek and to save that which is lost! No greater message can ever be told!
