First we need to realize that Daniel was a man of God. A man who feared God with a reverence and respect and had a great love for God! No matter what the situation or circumstances he feared and loved God! He depended on God for his very being!
Daniel 5: 1-31
In this Chapter we see many things and to expound on them all would take a great amount of time. I am going to speak of just a couple of things that I wanted get across here.
Daniel as seen here is a very Godly man with a reputation of being a man of God and full of understanding of many things. He had been the go to man of King Nebuchadnezzar. The King realized Daniel was a man of faith and he made Daniel master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers.
King Nebuchadnezzar knew Godly when he saw it. Just as many leaders and people who come into great power do, Nebuchadnezzar was no different. They tend to forget where they came from. God had set Nebuchadnezzar up as a great King and had delivered great power to his kingdom. All people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: God had blessed him greatly.
Now Nebuchadnezzar became full of himself and felt he was invincible! Sound familiar? Well it happens all the time! It can not and will not last! God will get his glory one way or the other. King Nebuchadnezzar lost his mind literally! Became as an animal and wandered aimlessly until his death.
Now Belshazzar the son of Nebuchadnezzar was on the throne and he was a man who did not respect God or his people. After a large gathering of his wives, concubines, and rulers he experienced a most horrifying thing! As he and his crew were partying and living it up praising everything but God a part of a man’s hand appeared to him and began writing on the wall of his chamber!
He became so disturbed and afraid after seeing the handwriting on the wall that his knees gave way under him! He immediately called for all the wise man and Magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers. This is the first thing our rulers do also. They look in every direction except toward God! They look to their party in congress, to foreign leaders, to so called religious leaders, etc!
Kings and rulers will rise up but they will all come to an end! Everything has an end! All our troubles have an end!
This too shall pass!
Daniel read the handwriting on the wall to Belshazzar and as the writing foretold, he lost his life and kingdom that night!
Proverbs 16:18, Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Our Nation has an out! It will take God fearing people to change the course though!
2 Chronicles 7:14, If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
You see, there are requirements! Humility, Prayer, Seeking the face of God, Yes, and turning from “our” wicked ways! Then will God hear us!
You see, God does not expect the lost to follow him and keep his commandments but the Christian.
God doesn’t expect the lost to hold up for his word in this world but the Christian.
You see, God doesn’t expect the lost to stand against evil here but the Christian.
I don’t care who our leaders are, if they are not God fearing men and women they will not uphold God or his commandments! They will worship the money and power it brings!
Where does that leave us as Christians? Do we play follow the leader or do we follow God?
I hope we are starting to get the point here in our wonderful country. If we as Christians don’t start standing up for our belief, we will end up like Daniel and the other Children of Israel having to serve God in bondage under evil rulers!
It is our duty as Christians to stand up for the Godly principles we were founded on!
At the end of the day God will still reign King and we will still be just flesh and blood no matter how much wealth or power we gain here! We will still stand before him and bow unto the one true King!
Romans 14: 11-12,
11:For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12: So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
My prayer is that we will be found ready when our God calls us! You can be ready, Jesus paved the way!
John 3:
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
If you are not a Christian, you have been sent to read this for a reason. Right now is your salvation near. Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior before you stand before him as a Judge! Don’t wait for The Handwriting on the Wall.
