We truly need to Fight the good Fight! Somewhere along the line we have been lured into thinking if we stand up for God and “His” righteousness we are being offensive and it is not God’s will for us to do so! Satan has lured this generation and past generations into thinking that as a Christian we are supposed to sit around with our mouths shut and say nothing that will offend!
God’s word offends many, it cannot be helped! Let God be true and every man a liar! God’s word is established in the Heavens forever and will not change! We are to proclaim “His” word in love and if it offends, God can take care of the offence. If we do “His” will he is very able to take care of “His” part. We must fight the good fight regardless of who this may offend. Our intent is not to offend but offences will come.
We as Christians have been in a war with Satan since we accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour, Lord and Master of our lives! The battle we face is a battle of the mind and heart over the flesh! Who controls the mind? The flesh which the bible says is *enmity with God or the inner man who Paul says he renewed daily? The mind of the flesh will always sin and the mind of the spirit will please God. To fight the good fight our inner man must be renewed daily.
This fight I am fighting is not to keep salvation but to advance the kingdom of God! Some have erred from the truth and teach that we have to work to maintain our salvation! First, it is not our salvation! Salvation is of God! Second, It is by grace and not of works lest any man should boast! If you are working to keep yourself saved then you must have had to work to get yourself saved! This is in direct contradiction to the word of God! Salvation is through the grace (unmerited favor) of God! I really do not want that burden! I am not able to keep myself! God knows this! That is why Jesus Christ died was buried and rose of His own power, I was not able to! Paul admonished Timothy to fight the good fight, not to keep salvation but to advance the Kingdom of God!
So we have a fight on our hands! We war against the flesh that continually wants to please itself! The spirit is continually and gently nudging us to do right! How many times have we begun to do something and we have this “feeling” that we might not should do it? How many times have we went on to do it and get in trouble with others or God? The Holy Spirit warn us of impending sin and danger. I have heard Christians say, “something just told me not to do that and if I had gone ahead with my plan I would have been injured or killed” That “something” you are referring to is “Him”, the Holy Spirit within you! If we mortify this flesh and die to it daily before God we can become much more in tune with the spirit. Knowing when “he” is speaking to us and knowing when it is the lust of our own flesh makes all the difference in serving and pleasing God. The more we walk in the spirit, the more “Godly” we become. That is the goal here!
We will walk in one spirit or another. The spirit of God or the spirit of the ruler of this world. Yes, we are a people of spirit and we are a people led by a spirit! The spirit of disobedience (flesh) or the spirit of God (obedience).
Ephesians 2:
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Galatians 5:
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Stand firm and know that He that is for us is more than they who are against us! They fight with the arm of the flesh but our God fights for us! If we clothe ourselves in Christ Jesus we can fight the good fight of faith!
1 Timothy 6:12
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Ephesians 6:12 – 18
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
So, how will you fight? You can find strength in God and His spirit! Let us put on the mind of Christ Jesus!
1 Corinthians 2:16 : The Mind of Christ!
He will hold you up with his strong arm and though the enemy may come in from 3 directions, God will make the enemy run from you in 7 directions!
Stand firm and present your body as a living sacrifice before God daily and you will become a warrior in this army God is raising up!
~Blessings~
