Perplexed: puzzled, confused, uncertain
Sometimes we find ourselves so troubled and perplexed in this current day and age we forget about God’s grace. We are often found trying to understand everything around us and we get into a frame of mind that we need to do more work in order to please God. We feel like we have to understand all of our surroundings and understand all that is happening in our lives and when we can’t it troubles and perplexes us!
This brings back the scripture of when Jesus went to a certain village and visited Martha and Mary. In the book of Luke 10: 38-42, Martha became so occupied with her surroundings and daily chores of preparing food for Jesus that she became perplexed and troubled that her sister was not helping her. At this point she complained to Jesus!
How many times have we complained to God that we feel others are not doing their part because they are not doing what we are? Are we perplexed about too many things and spinning our wheels in our attempt to serve God and work out our redemption? Remember, our redemption was purchased by Jesus and is not for sale! We can not work our way into the kingdom, no matter how hard we try!
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Let us learn from this scripture that it is much more important to be found at Jesus feet worshiping Him than it is to be running around creating a lot of noise and not getting much accomplished. Lets not get perplexed in this current world and forget to focus on Jesus. This portion can not be taken from us!
John 14
King James Version (KJV)
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Our nature is to try to figure out everything and know the end results before the end happens! As the old saying goes, we sometimes tend to want to get the cart before the horse. We want answers instead of relying on God and trusting His wisdom in the situations we are in. If we can’t see the answer we get perplexed and troubled like Martha did. This is our nature. the Bible speaks on the nature of man all throughout the writings of it.
We are not confusing to God, he already knows everything there is to know about us. He knows more than we do about ourselves. Before we were formed in our mothers belly He knew us! We are no surprise to Him! In our flesh we may think we have surprised God but in reality we have not!
John 10:10
King James Version (KJV)
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Satan is here only to destroy our lives and testimony in any way possible and one of those ways are confusion. You may think this is not a very big issue but it truly is because the scripture teaches that God is not the author of confusion!
1 Corinthians 14:33
King James Version
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
It is a very important thing to understand that confusion leads us out of the spirit of Almighty God! We cannot operate in the Spirit and Power of His Holy SPirit if we are living in confusion and staying perplexed!
James 3:16
King James Version
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
James 3:16
Amplified Bible
For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices.
We have to learn to trust in the infinite wisdom and ability of the Almighty God who created the earth and all that is therein! He is our keeper and not ourselves! He, in His time will reveal unto us the answers we need. We need to learn to be patient and wait upon the Lord and he will send us our needs in due time! If we will find ourselves at His feet worshiping Him while waiting, our wait will not be so drastic and bitter to us! If we can just concentrate on Him and not or own needs or wants He will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory!
Philippians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
The provisions of heaven really do outweigh any needs we may have here! God’s abundance is so much more than we could ever imagine and we hinder those provisions by our lack of faith in his ability to take care of us!
We often ask, Why God, why? It is not for us to know everything. There are things we may never understand. There are mysteries that belong to God that He may never reveal to us until we get to His kingdom! It is not for us to understand everything but to trust in an Almighty, All Loving God!
1 Corinthians 13:12
King James Version
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
We don’t know everything yet but we will, we just need to trust in the Lord to provide us with His riches in glory! He is the most blessed provider I have ever known! He has made a way for me when there seemed to be no way! God is my provider and there is none other like Him!
A very good example of our needing to rely on God to take care of our daily needs are the Children of Israel in the wilderness. God’s grace is sufficient
2 Corinthians 9:7-9
King James Version (KJV)
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
The children of Israel were wandering around in the wilderness without food to eat. God said I will send you Manna down from heaven to eat! Manna was referred to in the new testament as Angels Food! How wonderful that God would feed His people like the Angels in Heaven! Remember, Israel is the Apple of God’s eye!
God told Moses to have them gather up what they would eat that day and to not gather up against the days ahead because God would feed them daily! The provisions of heaven outweigh our earthly needs! If they gathered up more than they needed it rotted and decayed so they could not use it. God wanted to teach them that He was able to take care of their daily needs! We need to learn a great lesson of God’s grace from this!
God’s grace is sufficient for us today, we do not gather it up like provisions to do us for another day! God’s grace is sufficient for the day you are in! Tomorrow will take care of itself! Just like the Children of Israel in the wilderness, God will take care of tomorrows needs tomorrow. God’s grace will be sufficient tomorrow just as it was today. We just need to have faith and learn to rely on His ability!
Luke 12: 22 – 32
King James Version
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
With the provisions of the Kingdom of heaven at hand we really do not have a need to be perplexed and troubled! Our God is able and He is faithful to keep that which I have committed unto Him until that day!
2 Timothy 1:12
King James Version
For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
I have not only committed the keeping of my soul to Him but the keeping of my home, work, finances, etc! God is faithful!
I hope that through this I have been a help to you in some way! It is my intent to strengthen you and Glorify God! May we take each day as it comes and live it by the grace that god will supply. Each day we awake let us thank Him for His grace that He is going to supply us that day!
If you do not know Jesus as your Savior and Lord, please take this time to consider accepting Him today. Right now, this very minute.
