Home Made Chocolate Pudding Pie Recipe
This is a delicious dessert. This Home Made Chocolate Pudding Pie will melt in your mouth. I remember my mother making these and we could hardly wait until they were cooled enough and set to eat! We were like kids in a candy shop!
The ingredients for this Home Made Chocolate Pudding Pie is not difficult to find nor is this difficult to make. Every thing can be found in your local grocery store no matter how small.

Ingredients for: Home Made Chocolate Pudding Pie Recipe
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 egg yokes (For a richer pie use 3)
- 2 1/4 cups milk, divided
- 2 tbs cornstartch
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions for: Home Made Chocolate Pudding Pie Recipe
- Beat egg yokes in a small bowl and set aside.(We save the egg whites for our meringue topping)
- Combine 2/3 cups cocoa and cornstarch in a large bowl and whisk in 3/4 cup of milk until smooth.
- Combine remaining milk, sugar and salt in a large heavy saucepan,m ix well and bring toa boil over medium low heat stirring constantly. Immediatly remove from heat.
- Whisk the hot milk mix and the cocoa mix.
- Bring to a boil over medium high heat; boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly with whisk. Remove from heat.
- Slowly whisk 1 cup of the cocoa mixture into the egg yokes. Pour back into pan and cook over medium low heat for 2 minutes, whisking constantly. “Do Not Boil!” Remove from heat.
- Add vanilla extract and blend well pour pudding into you pie crust. Refrigerate for 3-4 hours to set.
- Top with your favorite topping and serve!
Toppings can include, Beaten egg whites like we used, berries, mints, etc.
Remember to stir continuously when heating pudding!
You can bake your own pie crust or use a frozen one after your have baked it.
If you want you can bake your own from scratch! Any of it is good!
Scratch is better to me!
You can use instant pudding for this pie also if you are in a pinch for time. It is very good just not as good as the home made one! Just follow the box instructions on the instant pudding.
