Old Log Cabins ~ Dr Thomas Walker State Park

Log Cabins have been around since, well,… Who knows how long? They are a simple type of log house and go together fairly quick. A log cabin and a log house are truly two different structures.

Log cabins were normally on or two room structures with sometimes a second story and they were very not complicated structures. Log houses can be more structured with hand hewn logs where the cabins were typically built with round logs in order to go together fast.

From the time of its construction to the last year of his life, he received many visitors here, ranging from Theodore Roosevelt and Henry Ford to students from Vassar College, just across the Hudson River.
