Shew, This White German Chocolate Chip Cake Squares is a doosie! What a terrific combination this white chocolate and marshmallows! We love chocolate here at Back Roads Living but this white chocolate is a keeper also! Baked to perfection and chilled, what a delicious dessert! This makes a nice display if you are having guest over also!
Ingredients for: White German Chocolate Chip Cake Squares
- 1 box German Chocolate Cake mix (Your choice Brand, we used Duncan Hines)
- 1 large egg
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) softened (You can use unsalted)
- 4 1/2 full graham crackers
- 10 ounce bag white chocolate chips (Your choice brand, we used Nestle)
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- 5oz sweetened condensed milk
Directions for: White German Chocolate Chip Cake Squares
See NOTE below:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- line an 9 × 9 inch baking pan / dish.
- Place cake mix, egg, and butter into a large mixing bowl.
- Mix with your hands until it forms a good dough, similar to a cookie dough. Remember we are making dough not cake mix. (I use aspoon until I get it mostly mixed.)
- Press half of your dough into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Layer with graham crackers on top of your cake dough
- Add white chocolate chips then cover with the marshmallows.
- Top the marshmallows with remaining half of dough pressing evenly. (This is the tedious part. I wet my hands each time I press the dough on the marshmallow so the dough does not stick to my hands so bad)
- Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the top of the dough.
- Put in oven and bake for 28-33 minutes, until cooked through and cake dough is done on top.
- Remove from oven and set on wire rack to cool.
- Let cool for at least 5 minutes, take a knife and run along the edges to loosen the marshmallow
- Let this cool completely
- See NOTE below: then remove bars from the pan with foil edges.
- Cut into square bars and serve.
- Delicious both at room temperature or chilled.
NOTE: If you want to lift it out of the pan for cutting, line the pan with tin foil and generously spray with cooking spray. Make sure foil goes all the way up and over the edges for this one. It needs to be heavy duty foil! The pan will be full!
