Log Cabin

If found this and many other wonderful items while on my journey at Back Roads Living. All the pictures of this beautiful old Log Cabin and the others are here just follow the link below for the story and pictures!

Most of you don’t know me or have never met me and all you can do is draw a picture from what I write on the Blog here at Back Roads Living. I have long loved the country and all it has to offer from the rolling hills, sky tall trees, valleys, cliffs, streams, etc! I love all of it! Nature is Gods handy work and his art work and there is none better!

I took a fantastic journey today and never got over 1/2 mile form my home. I didn’t realize how much nature and beauty there was around where I live. My first stop was the pasture below my home where our in-laws keep their cattle. As you can see it was a lazy time for the cattle and the Jack they call Brighty.

The cattle were all just grazing slowly or laying taking it easy. Brighty barely gave me a look and then I thought I detected a little bit of annoyance in his look. Ok, so they wanted to be left alone and not have some human mooing like a cow to get their attention so he could take a picture!

As I ambled up the road I saw Scooter and Sadie our Great Pyrenees and Bull Mastiff mix dog. isn’t she pretty! She is a good watch dog also! Nothing moves without her or Scooter knowing it. Scooter is the little black dog. He is like me, getting old and cantankerous! He doesn’t like people coming around the house and Sadie backs him up! They are a great pair! This is how we sleep peacefully here at Back Roads Living!

This is the gate where the cattle cross the road to get from one pasture to the other. Exciting isn’t it!

Cattle Gate

There was a small branch that runs through the cattle pasture. I could see the ripple in the water and the small water falls under the tree. My jewel that I found is a little lower down the page.. Wait on it! 🙂

This is the two ponds up above where I live. You would think I would do a lot of fishing but I just never seem to take the time. Pretty place isn’t it. I ended up having to wade through a thicket to get to the other pond and while stomping through the thicket I scared up a rabbit! Sadie had a blast chasing it! Don’t worry, she never caught it. The brush was way to thick for her. She would not make a good rabbit dog! The ponds are beautiful this time of year with all the new growth and fresh buds! Back Roads Living is a wonderful life with nature!

My next stop was in the head of the road at a neighbors house! There I found the Jewel, the treasure of my journey! The Jewel of Bull Run! Isn’t it beautiful! My neighbor told me he thought this was built in 1864. His wife and their family was raised in this old Log Cabin! What a treasure! I would love to have this beauty on my property. I would restore it all back to its original condition that I could and spend most of my time in and around it!Log Cabin1

The flowers and roses are in bud and starting to bloom a little here and there! The smell of spring is terrific and just can’t be matched. Everything is coming back into full life again and surging toward summer to show off all of Gods beautiful earth! It is amazing how much you can enjoy a short walk if you take your time to stop and smell the roses on the way! Back Roads Living, the country life indeed!

Sorry to be so long in this post but I just had so much to say and enjoyed my walk so much. I was in quite a bit of pain when I got back but it was worth every step I took! I never cease to be amazed at the beauty around us when I just slow down and look! God is good!

On my way back home I encountered this sign!

Speed Limit
This is a good idea but in my condition they will never have to worry about me speeding around the place! 🙂

Thank you for stopping by Back Roads Living again!

P.S. I hope you enjoyed the pictures as much as I did!

~Blessings` to y’all!
