Chocolate Marble Cake

I love the smell of fresh cake right out of the oven. This Chocolate Marble Cake is so good and in made with the fresh yellow cake! This recipe is for a made from scratch cake! Of course you can use a store bought box of yellow cake mix but they just don’t seem to have the taste and texture of these ones from scratch! Plus, there is always the fact that someone has put some labor of love into it!

Note: Original recipe makes 1 – 8 inch layer cake double ingredients to make two yellow cakes.

Ingredients for Chocolate Marble Cake

2 – Cups of all-purpose flour
2 – Tsp of baking powder
1/2 – Tsp salt
1 – Cup of white granulated sugar
1/2 – Cup of butter, (softened)
2 – eggs (Farm Fresh is best)
1 – Tsp of vanilla extract
1 – Cup milk
2 – Tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions for Chocolate Marble Cake

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F
Grease and flour a 9 inch round pan.
In a large mixing bowl place flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, butter (or margarine), eggs, vanilla, and milk.
Beat with a whisk slowly until moistened, then beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth.
Reserve 3/4 cup batter; pour the remainder into the baking pan.
Stir the cocoa into the 3/4 cup of reserved cake batter.
Drop this mix by spoonfuls over top of white batter.
Using a knife, swirl the cocoa batter into the white batter to incorporate it in a marble effect.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until an inserted wooden pick comes out clean.
