Our goal is not to be a homemade recipe or made from scratch recipe only Blog, but to have these recipes mixed in with other and newer more convenient and faster recipes. There are a lot of folk who just don’t have time for the homemade recipes and made from scratch recipes or are challenged in this area.

Here is a good Homemade Beef Stew Recipe

This old fashioned, Homemade Beef Stew is full of our favorite vegetables and so flavorful! The fat has been trimmed to make it a little healthier! What a delicious dinner. Now this is cooking, not putting it in a crock pot and leaving it. Made from scratch!


Ingredients for: Homemade Beef Stew Recipe

  • 1 Pound lean beef chuck, fat trimmed and cut into 1″ cubes
  • 2 Tbsp all -purpose flour
  • 3 Large yellow onions, thinly sliced (Approx 3 cups)
  • 2 Cups of sliced mushrooms
  • 2 Cloves of garlic-minced
  • 2 Tsp tomato paste(You can use low sodium)
  • 2 Cups beef broth (You can use low sodium)
  • 4 Cups sliced carrots
  • 2 medium potatoes sliced quartered or desired size (Approx 2 cups)
  • 1 Cup of cut green beans (Approx 1″ each)
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp cold water
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Directions for: Homemade Beef Stew Recipe

  1. Coat your beef with flour and shake off excess
  2. Heat oil over medium – high heat in a large non-stick pot
  3. Add beef and saute’ until browned and place on plate (Approx 6 minutes for Saute’)
  4. Add onions and mushrooms to the pot and saute’ for 6 minutes
  5. Add garlic and saute’ stirring for 1 minute
  6. Pour off fat
  7. Return the beef to the pot and stir in tomato paste and then broth
  8. Add just enough water to cover contents and bring to a boil
  9. Reduce heat to low setting and let simmer until beef is tender (Approx 1 1/2 hours) Remove and foam
  10. When beef is tender add carrots, potatoes and green beans and partially cover pot and simmer for approx 15 minutes
  11. Prepare cornstarch by mixing in a small bowl with the cold water
  12. Stir cornstarch mixture into beef stew
  13. Increase the heat and boil for 1 minute
  14. Serve hot!
