Homemade Banana Nut Bread RecipeBanana Nut Bread

We will be listing 2 different Banana Nut Bread Recipes in this post. One with All Purpose flour and one with Self Rising Flour.  The first is my mothers recipe with all purpose flour.

This is a Banana Bread Recipe my mother has used for many years and I have eaten many slices of this. Her Banana Bread is delicious!

We have made this recipe here at Back Roads Living several times and every time, it is a hit! There is never a piece left!

This stuff is delicious and you will not be disappointed if you are a banana lover! Go ahead, grab up the ingredients and give it a try!

We have used different brands of flour over time and found that in most cases, store brand or generic brand works just as well as nationally branded flours.  Both of these recipes were prepared the first time by use using store brand flours for both the all purpose and self rising flour recipe. Both turned out with very nice texture and very tasty!  No disappointments here!

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • Nuts to your liking (We were out of Walnuts so we used Chopped Pecans in this one)

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions:  (Self Rising Flour)

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F {160 C}.
  2. Lightly beat eggs and add the mashed bananas, vanilla extract, and oil and stir.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour and sugar together. Add dry ingredients to the banana mixture and stir well.
  4. Pour batter into a greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan or bundt pan.
  5. Bake for 60-75 minutes at 325 degrees F {160 C}
  6. Cool and then enjoy the banana bread while warm. I recommend a little bit of butter on top that will melt into this delicious banana bread.
