We have seen all kinds of Brownie mixes over the years and have tried several. This Low Fat Home Made Brownies Recipe is a good looking recipe. I love nuts in a Brownie! Low in fat makes it even better! 🙂

You can indulge a little in these Home Made Brownies as they have low fat ingredients and that makes them pretty much fabulous!

Ingredients for: Low Fat Homemade Brownies Recipe

  • 1/2 Cup cake flour sifted (See note below for substitute)
  • 1/2 Usweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 Egg whites
  • 1 Large egg
  • 3/4 Cup granulated sugar
  • 6 Tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp Chopped walnuts (Optinonal)

Directions for: Low Fat Homemade Brownies Recipe

  • Pre-Heat oven to 350*.
  • Use an 8″ square baking pan and spray with non-stick spray.
  • Combine flour, cocoa, and salt in a medium bowl and mix well.
  • Whisk together egg whites, egg, sugar, applesauce, oil and vanilla in a large bowl.
  • Stir in flour mixture until it is just blended. (Do not over mix this)
  • Pour batter into 8″ pan. (Sprinkle with walnuts if desired)
  • bake until the brownies are just set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.(approx 25 min)
  • Remove pan and put on a wire reck to cool for about 15 minutes.
  • Cut into squares and enjoy!

Note: If you don’t have cake flour you can use all purpose flour. Just replace the 1/2 cup of cake flour with 7 tablespoons of all purpose flour. Sifting is not required! You can also use other nuts as desired!
