The mountains that flourished with rich foliage during other seasons now stand naked and bare. Shades of gray mingle with the white blanketing of winter storms as nature teaches a great lesson.
There are no leaves to clap their hands, no shade to shadow the earth. Naked and bare, each tree must endure chilling winds and strong storms. Rich sap settles in strong roots that hold mountains together. There is unseen life and unseen strength in the steel gray mountains.
The Bible likens men unto trees. Cold seasons teach a time of rest and preparation. These are the times when testing’s, trials and tribulations pelt us like silver sleet and beat upon our gray barrenness that we might bloom blossom and bring forth in due season.
“Sing O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud…” Isaiah 54:1
These are the cold seasons Father rejoices in.
