Unfried Chicken Recipe
Here in the South we love our fried chicken and we really like it breaded when we fry it! The breading gets really crispy and that is like a little dessert on the chicken to us! Unfried Chicken! Well, I never heard the beat!
This Unfried Chicken Recipe has got me convinced it will be a good un! Enjoy!
Ingredients for: Unfried Chicken Recipe
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large egg whites
- 1 1/2 cup cornflake crumbs
- 4 chicken drumsticks , skinned
- 4 chicken thighs, skinned
- 1/2 tsp each. salt and black pepper
- 1/4 cup fat-free buttermilk (If ya don’t have fat-free, take the plunge and use what ya got!

Directions for: Unfried Chicken Recipe
- Pre-heat oven to 375*
- Line large baking pan with foil
- Place a wire rack in the pan and spray with non-stick spray
- Put flour on a plate.
- Lightly beat the egg whites in a shallow dish
- Put the crumbs on a seperate plate
- Mix chicken, salt, pepper in a bowl; stir in the buttermilk
- Dip chicken one piece at a time into the flour then into the eggs then into the crumbs
- Put chicken on wire rack and lightly spray with non-stick spray
- Bake until golden brown and cooked through (Approx 45 minutes) No need to turn chicken
See, this is gonna be breaded chicken and I think it is gonna be just as good as fried minus the grease! Well, maybe not as tasty as fried but good non the least!
Note: For a Buttermilk substitute, use 1 tbs of white vinegar of lemon juice to 1 cup of milk and let set 5 minutes.
