Chunky Cinnamon Applesauce

This Chunky Cinnamon Applesauce is about as good as it gets! I have always been a fan of applesauce but this chunky applesauce can be served warm or cold as a dessert all on its own. I like a little pat of butter thrown on mine when serving it hot! Make up a big batch of homemade biscuits and what a delicious snack! This is something you can refrigerate along with your leftover biscuits and eat on it for a few days! What are you waiting for? It does not have to be cold weather to enjoy this traditional dish!

 Ingredients for: Chunky Cinnamon Applesauce

  • 8 – Cups Tart Apples peeled and chopped. (Approx 3 1/2 lb)
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar (Packed)
  • 1 – Teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 – Teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Directions for: Chunky Cinnamon Applesauce

  1. Using a Dutch Oven or comparable pot, add apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  2. Cook covered on low heat for 30 – 40 minutes or until apples are tender. Stir occasionally but do not over stir. (check them along for tenderness)
  3. When tenderness is reached remove them from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. If you need to mash them a little to reach desired texture.
  5. Serve warm or cold.
  6.

As stated above, I prefer them warm with butter and homemade biscuits. The recipe for our homemade biscuits is below along with some of our other recipes.
