This Strawberry Shortcake Recipe was given to us from my wife’s mother. She obtained it from an elderly lady many years ago and it is a delicious recipe!

We have used it many times and am sure we will do so many times again!

During early summer when strawberries are coming in and fresh off the vine, these are the most delicious things we make.

Ingredients for: Nannies Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1tsp vanilla extract
  • 2lb strawberries or 2 store packages

We will normally buy extra strawberries and make up more of the topping than we need for one batch and put the extra in the refrigerator because we will make two batches in a row. Our family loves them and they don't last long here.

Directions for: Nannies Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350*
  2. Mix first 6 ingredients until smooth.
  3. Prepare 2 cup cake pans or standard 9 x 13 cake pan and coat or spray with Pam
  4. Pour into pan / pans
  5. Bake between 15-20 minutes depending on oven.
  6. Let cool and serve with Strawberries and Whipped Topping. Can drizzle with chocolate also!

Alternate Directions for the flat bread cut into squares:

Use the same directions above only puree half of the strawberries and use a bread pan with edges to bake the bread in. Cut into squares and put strawberries between them with cool Whip on top!

I am glad Nannie gave this Strawberry Shortcake recipe to my mother in law! It has been such a delight to add this to our recipe files.
