Oh my Spiced Cake with Citrus Cream Cheese Topping and Filling! How much better can it get! I found a recipe similar to this online and have adapted it here for your convenience. This will be so easy you will make it over and over again! The Holidays will be filled with this delicious and tasty dessert!

Ingredients for Spice Cake:

  • 1 box of Spice Cake mix

Directions for Spice Cake:

  1. (Follow box instructions)
  2. You can use two round pans or a 9 x 13 depends on what you like best.
  3. Remove cake from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.

The frosting adds a wonderful tasty citrus flavor to this cake. You are gonna love it! 🙂

Ingredients for Spice Cake Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 4 Tablespoons of butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 Cups of confectioner’s sugar
  • The zest of one lemon
  • The zest of one large or two small oranges
  • 1 Teaspoon of orange juice

Directions for Spice Cake frosting:

  1. On high speed with a mixer, whip the “room temperature” ingredients together for 2 minutes.
  2. Be sure cake is completely cooled. If the cake is still to warm it will make the frosting try to run.
  3. Frost cake with frosting

Note: If you don’t have time to make the frosting you can use a can of Cream Cheese Frosting from your grocery store and add real lemon juice or orange juice to it. Just add a teaspoon full at a time and mix it until you reach the desired citrus flavor.
