Apple Dumplings made with crescent rolls are a delicious treat! Seems like anything made with crescent rolls ends up being a delicious treat!
We think you will find the apple dumplings very satisfactory to your taste!
The method I used was half of a recipe and I used home canned apples instead of the granny smith apples for these apple dumplings! The method is pretty much the same. The only difference is the panand the fact that home canned apples is a little harder to wrap than a fresh cut apple!
The pan I used was half the size called for so, if you do a full recipe you will for sure need a 9 x 13 inch pan. Two crescent rolls will fill it full and so will the other ingredients! Be sure to time watch these Crescent Roll Apple Dumplings if you do a half recipe like the one I just did. Your oven may vary a little from mine. You want the rolls good and brown, crispy on top. They will be soft on the bottom making a delicious combination.
I did not have a can of Mountain Dew either! As stated, no trip to the grocer for me on this one! We had a 2 liter and I used it. I measured out 6 oz in my measuring cup, the same as a 6oz Mt Dew can of soda. You can do the same with your full recipe, just measure out 12oz.
I am writing this as these wonderful apple dumplings cook and as soon as they come out and I am able to eat the, I will report my findings! Wonder how the home canned apples are going to work? Ok, 28 minutes and hot out of the oven! Crispy and brown on top just like I wanted them. You will be tempted by the smell to eat one now. Don’t, they are too hot and will burn your tongue! You can wait, I know you can!
After waiting until they cooled down a little bit, they are still good and warm in the picture, I added some cool whip and they will melt in your mouth. I can’t wait to get to the grocery and get me some Granny Smith Apples or Golden Delicious to try this with. Oh yes, I will have Ice Cream the next time also! Everyone here loved them and ate seconds! Trust me, if you like sweets, you are going to love this recipe!
WARNING ~ don’t get any on your forehead, your tongue will beat your brains out trying to get it off!! Yes, it is that good! 🙂
~Blessings~
I got the idea for this recipe from ” The Pioneer Woman “
