Iced Coffee

I love Iced Coffee and Mocha! This is the easiest and cheapest way to have it at home! Don’t pay the high prices at the Coffee Houses!

I Love Creamy Sweet Iced Coffee but hate paying over $4.00 a glass or cup at some fancy-schmancy coffee house! I refuse to do that! I can buy a pound of coffee for $6.00 – $7.00 at the grocery. I can but a tub of Folgers Drip for $6.50 – $7.00. this makes lots of coffee! What about the cream you say? Sweetened cream tops out at $1.50 and Condensed milk at $1.00 a can where I shop! Sometime both are cheaper.

 






Here is how to make the perfect creamy & sweet Iced coffee for pennies a glass!
Note: There is even an easier way on the bottom of this recipe!
You have to make your coffee concentrate.

(This is the only part of the process that takes some time)

Don’t worry, the gallon of coffee concentrate you end up with will make enough to last you for a month in the fridge!

You do NOT want to brew a normal pot of coffee for your iced coffee.
You want to cold-brew it.

This leaves you with a smooth, acid-free coffee base that we all love for a refreshing cold drink.

Iced Coffee Concentrate.

 

Ingredients for: Iced Coffee

  • 1 gallon water (I buy a gallon of drinking water)
  • 1 lb bag of your favorite rich coffee (course ground if ya can get it)
  • Coffee filters or several layers of cheesecloth
  • a fine mesh strainer.
  • a large bowl
  • pitcher (big enough to hold a gallon)

Directions for: Iced Coffee

  1. Pour gallon of water into your large bowl.
  2. Dump the entire bag of coffee into the water/bowl.
  3. Stir to make sure all grounds are saturated with water.
  4. Walk away, for 12 hours or overnight.
  5. line a mesh strainer with a coffee filter or several layers of cheese-cloth, set the strainer on top of your pitcher.
  6. Pour (or ladle) your coffee mixture into the strainer. (this part takes awhile… I often had to walk away while it filtered into the pitcher) If using coffee filters, you might have to replace them several times during the filtering process.
  7. Once all the coffee concentrate has been filtered, stick it in the fridge (it will last for a month!)

If you are trying to save every penny you can here is a less expensive recipe!

Now, the above recipe said, “You do NOT want to brew a normal pot of coffee for your iced coffee”. Well, guess what? I did and tried it and I loved it! I am sipping one of the best glasses of iced coffee I have ever had right now. I am going to try the top recipe but for now I will drink my brewed coffee!

Just brew a pot and let it cool, put it in the fridge!

Mix the sweet cream and evaporated milk like instructed and refrigerate.

When it all gets cold pour and enjoy!
