Cookies and Cream brownies are some of the tastiest brownies I have made. These brownies look like they might be difficult if you just glance at the ingredients but they are a very simple dish to make.
I would not suggest frosting these brownies as they are delicious as they are. You really don't want to cover up these very pretty brownies with that luscious cream cheese topping. This combined with the crumbled Oreos is a hard to beat look!
Lets get on to the good stuff and yes, these really are easy to make. It just takes a few minutes to put it all together but you will be glad you did.
The prep time for these: 15 minutes.
Bake time: 30-40 minutes plus cooling time.
Makes 2 dozen brownies.
In a small bowl beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until it reaches a smooth texture for spreading like in the photo below.
Combine butter, both sugars, and cocoa in a large bowl and beat in eggs and vanilla.
Combine all-purpose flour and baking powder by mixing together.
Gradually add the flour mix to the cocoa batter. Slowly, or you will have a white dust bowl in your kitchen!
Stir in crushed Oreo cookie crumbs.
Pour this mix into a greased 11 X 7 baking dish.
Spoon cream cheese mix over the top and spread out to corners.
Sprinkle the crumbled, chopped Oreo's over the topping.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. We ended up leaving ours in for 40 minutes before a toothpick inserted came out with moist crumbs. (See the video below)
Cool completely on a wire rack, cut and serve! Store leftovers in refrigerator.
